Bedrooms

Bedroom air conditioning, quiet at night and warm in winter.

Cool on a hot night, warm on a cold morning, from one wall unit. The makers publish indoor sound levels from 16dB(A) at the lowest setting for the units we fit, and every one of them heats as well as cools.

How quiet, by the makers' own figures.

Every figure below is the sound level the manufacturer publishes for the 2.5kW indoor unit at its quietest setting, with a link to the page it was read from. We have not added any of our own.

Getting the quiet figure at night

The quietest setting moves the least air. A bedroom that is already hot comes down faster on a normal fan speed first, so cool it or warm it before bed, then drop to the quiet or night setting for sleeping.

It heats the bedroom in winter too.

Every unit we fit is a heat pump as well as an air conditioner. The same box that cools the bedroom in July reverses in winter and heats it, and it warms the room in minutes rather than waiting on a radiator.

It heats the room it is in, not the rest of the house, and it does not do hot water. For a bedroom that is always the cold one, that is exactly the job.

What a kWh of heat costs

Electric fan or oil filled heater
26.32p
Daikin Comfora 2.5kW heat pump
5.7p

At the Ofgem price cap of 26.32p per kWh for 1 October to 31 December 2026. The heat pump figure uses Daikin's published seasonal efficiency (SCOP) of 4.61. Estimates, not quotes.

What the price includes

  • Up to 3m of pipework
  • External trunking, the cover that hides the pipework outside
  • Bracket or feet for the outdoor unit
  • A gravity drain, so the water runs away without a pump
  • Electrical connection by a qualified electrician
  • A fused spur on 2.5 and 3.5kW, or its own circuit from your fuse board on 5.0kW and up
  • Commissioning, and a handover pack you keep

The prices shown are starting prices for a standard installation. If your job needs longer pipe runs, a condensate pump, access above the first floor, or work on your consumer unit, we price it in your quote, never on the day.

Questions we get asked.

Will I feel the air on the bed?

Where the unit goes decides most of that, so it is chosen at the survey to reach the room without being aimed at where you sleep. If the draught is your main worry, the Samsung WindFree Comfort S2 lets cooled air out through 23,000 micro holes instead of blowing it across the room.

What about the outdoor unit?

It has a fan and a compressor and it is louder than the indoor unit, so where it goes is half the answer. We site it at the survey so the noise is not pointed at a bedroom window, yours or your neighbour's.

Do I need planning permission?

For a unit that heats as well as cools, usually not. The one to watch is the count: a semi or a terrace can have one outdoor unit as permitted development, so if the house already has one, a second for the bedroom needs planning permission. Our planning guide has the detail. This is not legal advice.

How long does it take?

A single room install in a London house is normally one day, start to finish, with the floor and furniture in the working area covered before anything comes out of the van.
