Where NVK Air works
NVK Air covers all of Greater London. Harrow and Stanmore are the home patch, and the ring around them, Wembley, Watford, Barnet, Ealing, Uxbridge, Pinner, Edgware and Northwood, is where most of our work is. Beyond that we install right across the capital, from Enfield down to Croydon and from Hounslow across to Havering, and into the Hertfordshire border towns of Bushey, Borehamwood and Radlett. Wall mounted systems start from £1,900 fully installed inc VAT, and the price is the same wherever in London the room is. What changes between one address and another is the building, not the postcode.
Harrow and Stanmore, the home patch
This is where the day starts, so it is the part of London we know street by street. Most of it is interwar semis and 1930s terraces: cavity walls, a side return, and a rear elevation where the outdoor unit can sit without being visible from the road. Survey and install are usually easy to book close together here, simply because there is no traffic between us and you.

North west London
The ring straight out from the home patch. A bit of everything: mansion blocks, new build flats over the Metropolitan line, and long streets of Edwardian houses where the only sensible condenser position is the flat roof over the kitchen extension. Flats here often need the freeholder's written permission before anything is booked, so it is worth asking early.

North London
Barnet down through the inner boroughs. Lots of Victorian stock, which means solid walls, deep floor plans and a pipe run that wants planning at the survey rather than improvising on the day. Loft conversions are common up here and they are usually the hottest room in the house, so they are often the first one people fit.

West London
Chiswick out towards Heathrow and back in towards town. A lot of conservation area frontages, which is the main reason we route pipework round the back wherever the layout allows, and keep any visible fixings stainless and straight. Where a front elevation cannot be avoided, we say so at the survey and show you where it would run.

South London
Across the river, Wandsworth round to Bromley. Terraces and semis for the most part, with more garden than the inner north, so the condenser usually has a straightforward home at ground level on feet or a small plinth. That tends to keep the install to a single visit.

East London and the City
Warehouse conversions, new build blocks and long Victorian streets, often within a few hundred metres of each other. Flats dominate, so the building's rules and the route to an outside wall tend to decide the design before anything else does. On higher floors a condensate pump is more likely than not, and it is priced on the quote rather than sprung on you.

Just past the Greater London line and still a short run from Stanmore. Bigger plots on the whole, which often means a longer pipe run to a condenser tucked down the side of the house. Anything past the three metres included in the from price is quoted upfront, per metre, before the work is booked.

What changes from one part of London to the next.
The unit is the same in Pinner as it is in Peckham. Six things decide whether a job is a straightforward day or a bigger one, and every one of them is settled at the free survey and written into the quote before you agree to anything.
House or flat
In a house the decision is usually which wall the indoor unit goes on and where the condenser sits outside. In a flat there is a third question before either of those: whether the lease and the freeholder allow a unit on the outside wall or the balcony, and whether the building has already set a position for them. That answer changes the design, so it is worth finding out before the survey rather than after it.
How far the pipe has to run
Every from price includes three metres of pipework, which covers most rooms where the outdoor unit can go on the other side of the same wall. Terraces with no side access, upper floor flats and houses where the only condenser position is at the far end of the building need more, and that is quoted per metre on the written quote before anything is booked.
Where the water goes
An air conditioner produces condensate and it has to drain somewhere. A gravity drain is included and it is what most ground and first floor rooms get. Where there is nothing to fall towards, which is common in flats and in converted lofts, the answer is a condensate pump, and that is a priced line on the quote rather than a surprise on the day.
What the front of the building looks like
Conservation areas are spread right across London and they are the reason we route pipework round the back wherever the layout allows. Where a run has to be visible, it goes in trunking, straight, with stainless steel fixings, and we show you the line it will take at the survey so there is nothing to argue about afterwards.
The electrics
A 2.5kW or 3.5kW unit runs off a fused spur. From 5.0kW upwards it wants a dedicated circuit back to the consumer unit, and older boards sometimes have no spare way for one. A qualified electrician does the connection either way, it is included in the price either way, and if the board needs work that is priced upfront.
Getting to the outdoor unit
Ground floor and first floor condensers are a normal day's work. Anything above that needs access equipment and is planned into the quote, along with whether the job is one visit or two. We say which it is before you agree the price, not on the morning.
Why the home patch matters.
Being based in Harrow and Stanmore is not a marketing line, it is the reason the survey and the install tend to sit close together for anyone in HA, and the reason a return visit for a filter or a fault is a short trip rather than a planned expedition.
It also means we have seen the same houses many times over. The 1930s semis that run from Kenton through Queensbury to Edgware are close enough to identical that we already know where the pipework wants to go before we walk in, and the purpose built blocks along the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines have a small number of repeating layouts between them.
Further out, none of that changes what you pay. The from price is the from price whether the room is in Stanmore or in Sydenham. Distance is not a line on the quote.
