The same box as air conditioning
An air to air heat pump is the technical name for air conditioning that heats. Every unit we fit is one: it moves heat into the room in winter and out of it in summer, through the same indoor and outdoor unit.
Several units of heat for each one you pay for
Daikin publishes seasonal heating efficiencies of 4.01 to 5.20 for the Daikin units we fit, so four to five units of heat for each unit of electricity. At the current price cap of 26.32p per kWh, an electric heater's heat costs 26.32p a kWh; a 2.5kW Daikin Comfora's costs about 5.7p.
It still heats in a cold snap
Daikin publishes heating output down to minus ten degrees outside. Its 2.5kW Comfora and Stylish still deliver 2.09kW of heat at that temperature. Output falls as it gets colder, so we size for the winter as well as the summer.
One room at a time
A wall unit heats the room it is in. It does not heat the rest of the house and it does not make hot water, so for more rooms it is a unit in each, and we say so at the survey.

- External trunking, the cover that hides the pipework outside
- Bracket or feet for the outdoor unit
- A gravity drain, so the water runs away without a pump
- Electrical connection by a qualified electrician
- A fused spur on 2.5 and 3.5kW, or its own circuit from your fuse board on 5.0kW and up
- Commissioning, and a handover pack you keep
The prices shown are starting prices for a standard installation. If your job needs longer pipe runs, a condensate pump, access above the first floor, or work on your consumer unit, we price it in your quote, never on the day.

The questions to ask.
Is there a grant?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme has paid £2,500 towards an air to air heat pump in England and Wales since 28 April 2026, but only where it can heat the whole home and replaces the heating that is there now, so a gas boiler cannot stay, even as a backup. It is applied for by an MCS certified installer. Our grant guide sets out every condition, from the regulations.
Does it replace my boiler?
Not for one room. A wall unit heats that room, and your existing heating carries on for the rest of the house and for hot water. If the boiler stays, the £2,500 grant does not apply.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not, as long as the outdoor unit goes in a permitted position and meets the size and number limits. It cannot go on a pitched roof or, above the ground floor, on a wall fronting a road, and in a conservation area not on a wall or roof fronting a road at all.
