The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ZS is a wall mounted air conditioner that heats as well as cools, supplied and installed across London by NVK Air from £2,150 fully installed. That one price covers the unit, the installation and the electrical work, agreed in writing after a free survey and before any work starts. Built by a manufacturer whose other products are turbines and ships, and engineered to run smoothly for years.
Allergen clearing filtration as standard
Not an upgrade and not an option. It is in the unit, and it comes out easily to be cleaned.
Quiet at low fan
The lower fan settings are where this one lives, and it is happy to sit there for hours.
App control as standard
We fit the SRK-ZS-WF, which has wireless LAN built in, so controlling the room from your phone is included rather than an upgrade. The infrared handset is in the box as well.
Is the ZS the right one for your room?
Who it suits
People who care what is inside the box and are indifferent to what is written on the front of it. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is an engineering company that builds turbines and ships, and the domestic units read like something designed by people whose day job has larger consequences.
What it will not do
It stops at 5.0kW, so a knocked through ground floor is out and that room needs a different range. That is the only real limit. Everything else on it, the filtration, the wireless, the build, is standard rather than an upgrade to price.
In London homes
It sits in the middle of the price ladder and it is the one we suggest when somebody wants a serious unit for a normal bedroom and does not want to pay the Stylish premium for a finish they will never look at. In a standard Harrow semi, this is the sensible answer.
Against the other ranges
155 pounds more than the Cebu and 150 pounds less than the Perfera at 2.5kW. It has neither the Stylish's finishes nor the Perfera's 7.1kW, and what it has instead is the build.

Every install includes
- Up to 3m of pipework
- External trunking, the cover that hides the pipework outside
- Bracket or feet for the outdoor unit
- A gravity drain, so the water runs away without a pump
- Electrical connection by a qualified electrician
- A fused spur on 2.5 and 3.5kW, or its own circuit from your fuse board on 5.0kW and up
- Commissioning, and a handover pack you keep
